Program and Project Management (FAC-P/PM)

This certification program establishes the necessary competencies, training, and experience requirements for program and project managers in civilian agencies to become certified to manage the acquisition-related aspects of projects.

    The Office of Federal Procurement Policy (OFPP) policy memorandum (PDF 188KB) dated April 25, 2007 announced the establishment of a structured development program for program and project managers identified as the Federal Acquisition Certification for Program and Project Managers (FAC-P/PM).
  • FAI Working Group Report FAC-PPM Certification report (PDF, 401KB)
    This report presented by FAI in consultation with the Chief Acquisition Officers (CAO) Council, the Chief Information Officers (CIO) Council, the Chief Financial Officers (CFO) Council, the Chief Human Capital Officers Council (CHCO), the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) and other government and non-government organizations, reflects recommendations for establishing the Federal Acquisition Certification for Program and Project Managers (FAC-P/PM) Program.

  • Program/Project Management Training Blueprint
    This Workbook provides the foundation for all P/PM training and developmental activities. Uniform use of this Workbook ensures consistency in acquisition activities across federal agencies and departments.
  • Continuous Learning Points (CLP) Requirements
    Individuals certified with FAC-P/PM must accumulate 80 CLPs every two years to maintain their certification. Refer to the OFPP memo on FAC-P/PM to see what activities and training will fulfill the CLP requirements for FAC-P/PM

    The Program Management Community of Practice serves as the central repository for Program Management knowledge.
  • Project Management Institute (PMI)
    PMI is the leading membership association for the project management profession. In December 2007, FAI signed a letter of understanding with PMI which compares the PMI certification against the FAC-P/PM on all three levels.
