The Acquisition Rewards and Recognition Program
The Office of Federal Procurement Policy (OFPP) established an Acquisition Rewards and Recognition program to increase the visibility of innovative acquisition processes and to improve the sharing of information about successful practices. As co-sponsors with OFPP, the Chief Acquisition Officers Council (CAOC) and the Federal Acquisition Institute (FAI) promote this rewards and recognition initiative as a government-wide recognition program that publicly acknowledges the best and brightest in the acquisition workforce. Through this initiative, existing and new award programs recognize federal employees and teams that demonstrate acquisition excellence. The federal acquisition community is responsible for managing $500 billion each year to support the missions of hundreds of agencies, while ensuring that taxpayer dollars are spent wisely. Additionally, through the Federal Acquisition Institute (FAI) Web site, award-winning and nominated practices will be indexed and described to ensure that these practices are disseminated widely for use by other organizations.
The CAOC Acquisition Excellence Awards recognizes outstanding achievement and excellence by individuals or teams in effective acquisition partnering, risk reduction in acquisition, and small business utilization. Nominees are judged on the extent to which results exceeded original expectations, the effort’s impact was substantial and provided significant value to the agency and/or other beneficiaries, and innovative practices were used to achieve objectives and those practices were captured in such a way they are transparent and available to others for use in future efforts. The objective of the Outstanding Academic Achievement Award is to recognize and reward students or recent graduates for outstanding academic achievement in a degree or certificate program directly related to the field of acquisition.
